Greg DornBA Hons, Dip Ac, Adv Ac (China)
Dip Mass, Dip Yoga, ACSM NZIA, NZASA ACC Provider Acupuncture:
Greg is a leading acupuncturist in Queenstown with over 28 years experience in acupuncture around the world. Training originally at the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (LSATCM) completing a comprehensive 3 year full time course in 1994. He then completed further training in Beijing, China gaining an Advanced Diploma in 1997. Whilst practising in London, Greg taught massage at his former college (LSATCM) and was an acupuncture clinical supervisor at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA) for 2 years. Whilst working in Sydney he also taught massage at the Australasian college. Since his original graduation in 1994 Greg has always furthered his studies including the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) drug addiction course. He then worked for the Community Drug and Alcohol Treatment Team (CDAT) in Richmond, London, a ‘half way house’ in Balham, London and a ‘drop in’ centre for users in Wimbledon, London – working on the ‘front line’ of drug and alcohol treatment and care. In 2018 he undertook a course on 'orthopaedic acupuncture' and is now able to assess and treat mechanical imbalances caused by injuries (even old old injuries). This approach allows him to 'wake up' sleepy or inhibited muscles and release tight muscles - thereby restoring the correct function of a joint or area. The results of this method have been astounding. Greg uses all of his accumulated knowledge to help patients understand their condition and find ways to help themselves as well as getting the treatment they need. Treatment can include: acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, strengthening, stretching or breathing exercises, recommendations of books or CDs, suggestions of classes or courses to undertake to help. |
YogaGreg is a leading Yoga teacher in Queenstown, originally trained as an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer in 1990.
He began his yoga training in 1994. Further study around the world followed, including a teacher training course in Ved Niketed Ashram in Rishikesh, India and the Sunra teacher training course in London and Europe. Qualifying as a teacher in 1998, Greg began teaching across London privately, in church halls and at Holmes Place and LA Fitness. After moving to Sydney in 2004 he worked at Livingwell, Fitness First and privately. In 2008 Greg moved his family to Queenstown, New Zealand. Greg has studied two classical yoga styles in depth. Sivananda – a North Indian style focussing on breath, static postures and relaxation. Astanga Vinyasa – a dynamic South Indian style focussing on body alignment, strength with flexibility and flowing movements. In addition he has studied a wide range of other styles (Iyengar, Power, Anasara), taking classes wherever he is in the world and teaches a synthesis of all these influences. Greg’s classes focus on steady movement, internal focus, correct alignment and safety, with a lot of smiles and humour thrown in for good measure :-) Greg’s teaching is influenced heavily by his 30 year martial arts background (Wing Chun Kung Fu, Aikido, Jiu Jitsu, BJJ), acupuncture/Chinese Medicine and personal trainer experience. His own injuries and medical background make Greg sympathetic and knowledgeable about student’s issues and he is always available after class for a chat and advice. Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace, rest when needed and to even stop for a cup of tea if necessary! Interesting trivia: ;-) Greg is a qualified hairdresser and appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s epic film ‘Australia’ with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. |

Hi
My name is Luke.
Always having a interest in the public health, I first completed a Bachelor of Science in Human Bio-Science’s in 2007 from Sheffield University and spent a period of 15 years working within the biomedical laboratory field.
Although delivering a patient orientated service was fulfilling, I desired a career with a greater patient interaction.
I became aware of the concepts used with Traditional Chinese Medicine through the practice of Yang Mian kung fu along with Qi Gong meditation, which for me created a natural levitation towards Acupuncture when I was looking at progressing my working career.
I completed a 4 year degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in NZ and in addition to this a diploma of Tuina (Chinese medical massage).
The Tuina allows me to be more hands-on to combine Acupuncture with soft-tissue work.
When I’m not working in the clinic treating people, I like to spend time with my beautiful partner, child and dog enjoying our beautiful surroundings or training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Living in Queenstown for 10 years prior to 2016, leaving for Wellington to study, Queenstown and Central Otago has always felt like home and I am extremely excited to be returning to the area to treat the local population. With the desire of delivering an effective and efficient service to my clients, I’m looking forward to treating you in the near future.
